Know HAL #2: Plug it in, it works! (Remember analog audio?)

Remember when you could plug in a live audio cable and immediately you’d hear sound? This was before you needed an IP Address, software, a mouse or (gasp!) the correct firmware in all your devices before you could hear music. We do.

HAL's DR & RAD devices - just like analog. Yet unlike any digital audio device you know.

HAL’s DR & RAD devices – just like analog. Unlike any digital audio device you know.

This is how HAL’s remote devices behave. Move any Rane DR or RAD device physically around a facility without powering down, restarting or re-programming settings. HAL stores all settings and firmware for every remote device and automatically loads them upon connection – in seconds. No mouse, software, Ethernet network or IP Address required.

Hot-swap devices in portable carts or padded racks or quickly replace service units with only a screwdriver. Moving DR or RAD models between two or more HALs of different firmware vintages is supported. The HAL installed during Phase One of a project can share DRs and RADs across HALs installed during Phase Two, Three or Four. No firmware or settings management required.

    • We thought the audio industry was way overdue in providing such a basic thing. But under the hood, it was a challenge. Our engineering guys & gals really came through with a game-changing software, firmware and hardware architecture.
