This years-old blog article talked about testing your 3rd-party control system code using only the Halogen software. Here’s a video that steps through how to set up and use PuTTY software to monitor your PC’s IP Address, not the DSP. This lets you send and monitor Ethernet control messages to and from Halogen software – no hardware required.
Halogen 5.0 uses the same Control Page Designer interface so you can create control pages, then assign them to Web Controls (smart phones, tablets or PC web browsers) or to one or more DR6 remotes, or to both. This tutorial video details all the steps to create pages, link controls, create user logins and assign both users and/or DR6 remotes to the suite of pages you create.
Halogen software allows you to use character codes from 0 to 255 in your names and other text fields (including those that appear on DR LCD displays). The character encoding is code page 1252 (CP1252) and the following table shows the supported character set.
To enter any of these Unicode characters in any Halogen field from the keyboard:
Press and hold down the Alt key.
On the numeric keypad type 0 (zero) and then the decimal character code below.
We’ve had a few customer calls where attempting to install Halogen was halted by Microsoft Windows installer error 2343.
Officially it is Error 2343: Specified path is empty during installation.
In simple terms, this means a location where files must be written to and read from is not available. Either the destination is protected, or just does not exist. Maybe an external or network drive is unavailable.
